🎿 Ktm 450 Exc Oil Change Interval
I recently bought a 2008 KTM 450 EXC-r as I wanted something more dual sport worth. I'm liking the bike, and am now considering a multi day long dual sport ride totaling about 1300 miles. Theses LC4 motors (08 to 11), are species for oil change every 10 hours. So I would technically need a change nearly every other day .
The second is when you clock between five to 10 hours to bring it back for a first service. The shop told me to change the oil every 300 miles and I just did my first 300 mile oil change. However, the oil came out pretty, clear and red just like the fresh oil I was about to replace it with. The 450 rebuild interval according to the manual is something crazy like 60 hours if I remember right. After talking to many individuals and a few shops I've gotten pretty close to the same response of 150 hours. Of course you could stretch it out further I'm sure and many do without an issue.
Most guys put topends in around 400 hrs on bikes that see typical use, if it's been raced or ridden hard then adjust downward accordingly. AS for bearings, replacing those are pretty rare but I'd imagine around 600 hrs it'll need the crank done.
