pati610. I have a strange problem. The Ford 6000 CD (by Visteon) in my 2004 Mondeo suddenly stopped producing sound after i replaced the car battery. Now, the whole unit seems to work in all other ways - the radio, CD and so on, just no sound. I asked the Ford service staff and they suggested that the unit could have been stuck in 'mute' after OK, there is something you can try if you have the radio code for the car. The display can sometimes be reset by disconnecting the battery for around five minutes and then reconnecting again. This allows the capacitive charge in the display to deplete and can sometimes get it working again. Low and behold, he reinstalled it and radio worked perfectly. So my suggestion is if you are having this problem, just go ahead and hit at least those 4 resistors to re-solder them. They may not look like the solder joints are bad, but they are so small, they might be.
